Obesity is already an epidemic in Brazil. According to Vigitel (Surveillance of Risk Factors and Protection for Chronic Diseases by Telephone Inquiry), approximately 28 million of Brazilian adults were obese in 2017. Expenses are also not encouraging. From 2008 to 2010, SUS (Sistema Único de Saúde – Unified Health System in Brazil) spent about R$ 3.6 billion per year with overweight and obesity in Brazil.
